- Where do the dates come from?
- From the official websites of the towns and municipalities. Every market links its source and quotes the sentence the date was taken from.
- What does “expected” mean?
- The municipality has not published its 2026 date yet. We then show the date that follows from last season — many markets run on the same Advent weekend every year. Once the municipality publishes the date, the entry switches to “confirmed”.
- When do Christmas markets start in 2026?
- Most large markets open after Totensonntag, i.e. from Monday, 23 November 2026. The first Sunday of Advent is 29 November 2026. Small village markets often last a single weekend or a single day.
- How precise is the map location?
- Where the source names a square or an address, the marker sits there. Otherwise it shows the district or the town centre, which the entry then states below its map.
